Selkirk Saints cancel weekend matches

The four-time defending British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League champion Selkirk College Saints have arrived back to the rink and will kick off their exhibition season in two weeks.

The Selkirk College hockey team is currently in training camp and will get their first taste of action against rival Eastern Washington University at the Castlegar and District Recreation Complex on Sept. 23 starting at 7 p.m.

The Saints were scheduled to have a two-game series against the Kelowna Senior AA Sparta this weekend in Castlegar, but the men’s team from the Okanagan was forced to cancel.

The BCIHL regular season begins for the Saints at home on Oct. 8 against Simon Fraser University where the banner from last season’s championship will be raised to rafters of the Castlegar arena. The Saints will then begin their quest for a fifth straight league title.
