Nelson’s city manager says zoning bylaw changes don’t signal a crackdown on marijuana dispensaries.
Kevin Cormack is speaking after council endorsed amendments that would technically ban those businesses.
But he says if council had a problem with the existing ones they’re already able to act.
Cormack says zoning is an additional tool that can help determine where dispensaries are located.
The matter still needs to go to public hearing.
