The Ministry of Tranportation says it heard local residents loud and clear about the Kootenay Lake ferry.
Government has decided to keep the western terminal in Balfour rather than move it to Queens Bay.
Marine Branch executive director Kirk Handrahan says there was no mistaking public sentiment.
Handrahan says now they’ll tackle the challenges associated with keeping the terminal in balfour.
That includes building a new ferry to replace the MV Balfour and dredging the West Arm.
