Nelson ranks 96th in municipal spending report card

Nelson is the 12th most fiscally responsible municipality in the Kootenays and 96th in BC, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Their annual report card looks at per-capita spending and the rate of growth in spending.

Salmo was 51st, Kaslo 61st, Silverton 124th, Slocan 128th, and New Denver 134th out of 152.

Silverton got special mention as it has ranked last in its category the last two years but the federation says that’s no longer the case as per capita spending has decreased.
