Public meeting tonight on Kootenay Lake fishery

Several concerned residents, outdoor and tourism groups on Kootenay Lake are expected to show up for Monday night’s public meeting in Balfour.

The BC Wildlife Federation says the ministry isn’t doing enough to tackle the Kokanee collapse and how that’s hurting the lake’s famous trout fishery.

Gord Grunerud with the West Arm Outdoors Club says there should be immediate intervention to get Kokanee numbers back up.

He says there should also be stricter limits on the Kokanee catch.

The Ministry will have staff at the meeting to give info and listen to ideas.

It goes at the Balfour Hall at 7 pm.
