Average Nelson home value jumps $30,000

Residential property assessments in Nelson are up.

The average home is now valued at $363,000, up from $333,000 the previous year.

Kootenay Columbia deputy assessor Ramaish Shah says it reflects a strong demand for housing.

Kaslo’s average residential assessment is now $219,000, up from $197,000.

Salmo is now at $172,000, compared to $170,000 a year ago.

New Denver slipped to $184,000 from $194,000 and Silverton to $216,000 from $232,000.
