A man who probably staked more mining claims in West Kootenay than anyone else has died.
Longtime North Shore resident Eric Denny was 93.
Son Jack says his father got his start as a kid exploring old mines in Kokanee Glacier park.
Jack says his father was life member of the Chamber of Mines of Eastern BC.
In 1993 Denny was recognized with the Spud Huestis award for excellence in mineral exploration in BC.
He passed away Jan. 17. A memorial service will be held in Nelson Feb. 11.
In addition to his son he’s survived by his wife of 65 years plus a daughter and several grandchildren.
