A slight amendment to new garbage rules in Nelson.
The city has been asking residents to leave their bags out loose for collection.
But public works director Colin Innes says they recognize concerns about animals getting into them.
Innes says the difference is that the city won’t lift the container. Rather, they’ll remove the bag from it.
New rules being phased in also reduce the maximum allowable weight of each bag.
It’s all a bid to reduce injuries to civic workers.
