Province anxious to wrap up Trail's boundary expansion

The Province is anxious to complete the process of Trail’s proposed boundary expansion into the Columbia Gardens area.

This according to City Councillor Robert Cacchioni and the reason behind Council okaying an alternate approval process Thursday to obtain the support of Trail electors.

Cacchioni says this initiative has been going on for three years now and the B.C Government wants it wrapped up before November’s Municipal Elections.

If 10% of residents oppose the expansion before July 7th – a referendum will need to take place.

Pending that and positive feedback from stakeholders in the Columbia Gardens, the City can then ask the Province to approve the expansion.
