Nelson cold war era bunker project gets boost

A secretive Cold War era space in Nelson is closer to becoming a public exhibit.

Touchstones Museum has secured Canada 150 funding for its proposed Diefenbunker project.

Executive director Astrid Heyerdahl says the renovation of the 1960s fallout shelter will take up to six months once they’ve reached their funding goal.

The bunker under the post office is also set to house thousands of artifacts from the old Anderson Street museum site.

That is slated for demolition next year.
