Residential taxes in nelson are going up more than first proposed.
City council has adopted a 6.35 per cent increase compared to the 4.85 per cent originally sought.
Chief financial officer Colin McClure says it will help pay for upgrades to city-owned buildings.
McClure says the increase comes after the city failed to reach a deal with the Regional District of Central Kootenay on funding for the Civic Centre.
The extra 1.5 per cent works out to about $120,000.
