Gate dedication to welcome Japanese visitors

The Izu-Shi Friendship Society will welcome a delegation from Nelson’s sister city on Aug. 7.

It’s the return visit after a group from Nelson travelled to Japan in March.

The society’s Malcolm Fitz-Earle says they also hope to dedicate a new gate at Cottonwood Falls Park that day.

The gate will be at the west end of the footbridge.

The society was recently approved for $17,000 in Columbia Basin Trust funds through the city.
