A former employee of the Nelson Leafs bottle depot has been charged with one count of theft.
Dezmond Waggoner, 20, will appear in court July 18.
Police aren’t sure exactly how much money went missing from the depot, but they figure it was more than $5,000.
It contributed to the team’s decline in revenue last season.
They say Waggoner is the lone suspect in the case.
Ten years ago police investigated another significant theft from the bottle depot, but no charges were laid.
