CRT local politicians want Basin-based government rep

Local officials responsible for Columbia River Treaty input are hoping an MLA from the Columbia Basin will continue to be a liaison in the next BC government.

Chair of the Local Governments Committee – Nelson mayor Deb Kozak- says either of the two re-elected MLAs from our area would do fine.

Ahead of any treaty talks with the United States the local governments committee has incorporated input from basin residents.

They’ve also made recommendations to government.

Former East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett was the previous liaison.
