The Regional District of Central Kootenay wants a task force to look into increasing concerns about logging and other activities near watersheds.

Local Regional Director Ramona Faust says a task force could help bring regulations up to speed with the realities of climate change.
Faust says while some forest companies do respond and act on community concerns there is no legal requirement for them to do so.

A task force would be comprised of tenure holders, wildfire specialists, biologists,hydrologists, and citizen reps.
The RDCK will propose the task force at this year’s Union of BC Municipalities Convention.
