Nelson will no longer trap skunks.
City manager Kevin Cormack says council has decided not to renew its longstanding contract with a local company.
About 100 skunks were trapped each year but Cormack says the BC SPCAÂ regards the practice as “ineffective and inhumane.”
Instead the city will focus on eliminating attractants.
