HomeKootenay NewsUPDATED: Smokey skies bulletin reissued for West Kootenay

UPDATED: Smokey skies bulletin reissued for West Kootenay

The Ministry of Environment has reissued the West Kootenay-Boundary from its smokey skies bulletin.

It was lifted Friday after being issued Tuesday due to smoke from a number of wildfires.

But we’re once again receiving smoke from fires in the Thompson and Cariboo.

The ministry says smoke concentrations will vary widely as winds, fire behaviour and temperatures change.

They say you should avoid strenuous outdoor activities.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, contact your health care provider: difficulty in breathing, chest pain or discomfort, and sudden onset of cough or irritation of airways.

Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, and lung or heart disease.
