RDCK upholds ban on model park homes

The RDCK is upholding it’s ban on park model homes.

The modular units are for seasonal use and don’t have the insulation to handle a harsh winter.

Speaking as an individual East Shore Regional Director Garry Jackman says it’s up to the province to allow building code exemptions like they do for mobile homes.

But that would fly in the face of energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

The modular home industry had asked the RDCK to relax the ban on the units.
