McCormick Creek fire: 2 homes ordered evacuated

Two properties have now been placed on evacuation order in the McCormick Creek/Rosebud Lake area due to the 100-hectare wildfire there.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay issued the order this afternoon as a precaution.

They also expanded the evacuation alert to include two more properties, bringing to a total of 23 that are on alert.

Southeast Fire Centre information officer Karlie Shaughnessy says crews are tending to the blaze.

The fire covers 100 hectares.

The RDCK said all affected properties are being visited by the RCMP.

The evacuation alerts and orders do not affect either the Shambhala Music Festival or the Village of Salmo.
