Work begins on Silver King student commons

Selkirk College has broken ground on the new student commons at the Silver King campus in Nelson.

It’s part of a 19-million dollar overhaul that began last fall.

But vice-president Gary Leier says until now the work has mainly been indoors.

The student commons includes a cafeteria, open study area, plus student services offices.

The new welding shop is already finished and construction on a new carpentry building will start soon.
