The trial of a prominent Slocan Valley First Nations woman takes place today in Nelson Provincial Court.
Marilyn James is charged with mischief and being in a home without a lawful excuse.
It stems from an incident last November at a house in Vallican owned by the Colville Confederated Tribes.
James is representing herself and has protested her innocence.
