With a full scale strike set to start Tuesday a deal for teachers can be done with government this weekend.
This from Kootenay Columbia Teachers Union President Andy Davidoff.
He’s seen the new compromise package being put forward by the BCTF which has said there are revisions in every area of bargaining.
Davidoff says the changes are very reasonable and will show government how far they’re willing to move.
The government says the teachers have been asking for as much as four times what other public employees get.
A so-called “study day” has been called by the BCTF for Monday so there are actually no classes as of then.
Meanwhile, the Labour Relations Board has ruled teachers will have to supervise Grade 10 and 12 provincial exams, as well as submit final Grade 12 marks by the end of next week.
Schools in Kootenay Columbia were shut today for a one-day strike.
Kootenay Lake and Boundary schools are closed Friday.
