Nelson woman protests vicious dog bylaw

A Nelson woman wants city council to revisit its by-law covering vicious dogs.

Karen Thompson, who has a Staffordshire terrier, was recently ticketed.

But she says it’s unfair to her pet and to the breed.

Dogs considered vicious under the by-law require a $300 licensing fee and must be kept inside or behind a six-foot high chain link fence.

In public they have to be muzzled.

Owners also need $1 million in liability insurance.
