Teachers demoralized with lack of deal:Davidoff

Teachers are feeling demoralized with no breakthrough in contract talks with government over the weekend.

This from Kootenay Columbia Teachers Union President Andy Davidoff.

He says the ministry did not bargain “around the clock” as they promised, only showed up late Sunday and actually went backwards on teachers’ revised salary proposal.

He says they got offered a quarter percent less than what was already on the table.

The BCTF was expected to  announce next steps later. A full scale strike is set for Tuesday.

The government says they’ve worked hard to put together a settlement that is fair
for teachers, fair for taxpayers, and fair to the 150,000 public-sector
workers who’ve already reached agreements.
