The suspect in the Nelson jewelry store heist has made his first court appearance on unrelated charges.
Anthony Creed Cortez appeared in Salmon arm court today via video link from jail in Oliver.
Revelstoke RCMP arrested him last week.
He’s facing numerous charges although they don’t yet include the crimes in Nelson.
Nor has he been charged in a fatal crash outside of Hope where he was alleged to have been driving a stolen SUV. A 35-year-old woman was killed.
He’ll return to court again Tuesday.
The items stolen and damage caused in the break-in was estimated at $30,000
