Slash burning planned in the Lardeau

The BC Wildfire Service is planning to burn slash piles in the Lardeau Valley starting today. They say the goal is to reduce the amount of flammable material and reduce the risk of aggressive wildfires in this area in the future.

Smoke and flames from these fires may be visible from Argenta, Trout Lake, Poplar Creek and Cooper Creek, and along Highway 31. Trained crews and firefighting equipment will be on site to monitor and control these burns.
