Book explores Nelson’s modernist architecture

A new book looks at Nelson’s history through a different lens.

Peter Bartl (pictured below) has published The Modernist Heritage of Nelson Architecture.

He used to teach 20th century design history.

He feels there are many unappreciated gems, including the former Mount St. Francis hospital.

The book profiles 70 buildings, both commercial and residential.

It’ll be launched at the public library on Nov. 2.
