The City of Nelson is examining what it can do to encourage more laneway housing.
Planning and building analyst Alex Thumm says they’re teaming up with Small Housing BC.
The goal is to simplify and fast-track the approval process for such homes.
Since 2013 city bylaws have allowed laneway homes but only about 15 exist or are in the works.
Thumm says they’ll hold a contest to come up with pre-approved designs.
