Fuel treatments planned for 100 high-priority hectares

More fuel treatment work is getting underway in forests throughout the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

Wildfire mitigation co-ordinator Nora Hannon says it’s in priority areas to protect communities and infrastructure.

It’s for a total of just over 100 hectares.

Hannon says crews will thin out the trees.

They have funding from several sources including the Forest Enhancement Society of BC and Columbia Basin Trust.
