Guilty plea entered in Leafs bottle depot theft

A former employee of the Nelson Leafs bottle depot has pleaded guilty to one count of theft.

Dezmond Waggoner received a suspended sentence. It includes one year probation, a $100 victim surcharge and restitution to the team.

He admitted to stealing $80 from the bottle depot in February.

He was originally charged with one count of theft over $5,000 dating to May 2016, but it was stayed.

The team said the theft cut into its bottom line last season.
