Nelson 6th on list of Canada’s favourite small towns

Expedia Canada’s travel blog has included Nelson among its list of Canada’s 25 favourite small towns.

Expedia says it polled 1,000 Canadians for nominations, then sorted through the written survey results to find the most frequently mentioned places (with populations of no more than 20,000).

Nelson came in sixth. The site wrote: “Nelson is one of those places where a liberal arts degree actually can be put to good use. Case in point, it’s often ranked as one of the best small arts towns in the country. Be it the theatre or public paintings or handmade jewelry, this place knows how to push the boundaries of texture and colour.”

Among the top things to do in Nelson, it suggested a heritage walking tour.

The top-ranked town in BC was Tofino at No. 4, while the top town overall was Banff.
