ILMA chair accepts reduced Arrow timber cut

A local forest company head says he puts his faith in BC’s chief forester in reducing the Arrow timber supply’s annual allowable cut.

Ken Kalesnikoff of Kalesnikoff Lumber is also the chair of the Interior Lumber Manufacturers Association.

He says he trusts the right call was made based on the best available science.

The cut is going down from 513,000 cubic meters per year to 500,000 for the next decade.

Kalesnikoff says he wasn’t surprised by the decision.

He adds other parts of BC are seeing much larger reductions.
