Selkirk students raise funds for Guatemala trip

Selkirk College nursing students will hold a fundraiser next month for their annual trip to Guatemala.

Third-year student Ty Smith is one of 14 who will be involved in the international practicum next May.

They’ll provide education to citizens in poverty, work with people of all ages who don’t have accessible health care, and speak to government officials.

We asked Smith what he’s hoping to get out of it.

The fundraiser to cover their expenses is at the United Church on Dec. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m.

It includes a rice and bean dinner with entertainment.
