More parking meters might be seen in Nelson

Nelson city council has approved a pilot project for metered commuter parking zones.

The project will add new daily parking meters to 21 spaces on the west side of the 300 block of Cedar street.

They would have a flat rate of $5/day.

City planner and building analyst Alex Thumm says this could help the lack of available parking in the city.

 

He says this is a part of a larger goal.

The final adoption of the project will go through council next month.

Thumm hopes to see it fully underway in the summer.
