Fatal two-vehicle collision involves Nelson man

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and Traffic Services are investigating a fatal vehicle collision.

The two-vehicle collision took place on Tuesday evening around 5:40 pm just south of Westwold.

The driver of one of the vehicles, who died as a result of the collision, was identified as a 32-year old man from Nelson. The other driver was taken to hospital and is said to have minor injuries.

Constable Kelly Brett said in a statement:

‘At the time of the collision, road conditions were poor and may have been a factor, however the North Okanagan Traffic Services has assumed lead in the investigation and cause of the collision is still yet to be determined. The highway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the collision analysts conducted their investigation.
