IH delays cuts to ER hours in New Denver

Interior Health says they’ll keep 24/7 service intact at the Slocan Community Health Centre’s emergency department in New Denver until at least spring.

It was announced Wednesday that hours would be scaled back to 9:00am-5:00pm on weekdays, excluding statutory holidays.

The announcement was in response to IH’s difficulties in recuritng physicians to work at the facility

The ER will remain open 24/7 pending physician availablity and IH will continue their recruitment efforts.

IH says elected officials and community representatives were clear that they needed more time to prepare for the change.

The decision has been delayed until at least spring.
