Public hearing for Lakeside Place Housing development re-zoning application

Nelson CARES Society’s Lakeside Places Housing development will go to a public hearing.

City council passed the first and second reading of a zoning amendment bylaw to approve regulations.

Executive Director Jenny Robinson says the two principle variances are height and parking.

The proposed variations are a one-story height increase, a 40 stall parking decrease and one level of underground parking.

She says it’s great to be so close to getting the project underway.

If the hearing is successful they hope to begin construction in the summer.

The Lakeside Places Development will have 47 affordable rental units.
