New Harrop Ferry will be built in Kaslo

Construction of the new Harrop Ferry will partly take place in Kaslo.

Nakusp’s Waterbridge Steel has been enlisted to build the new ferry.

Mayor Suzan Hewat says the village was a good option for several reasons.

Parts will be shipped from Nakusp and the ferry will be assembled near Kaslo.

Hewat says the company has indicated it will employ as many local tradespeople as possible.

She adds they’ve negotiated a tentative license of occupation during the construction period.

Construction was originally set to take place in Nakusp.
