More assistance available for local farming and agriculture sectors

The Columbia Basin Trust is offering specialized business advice for local farmers and agricultural producers.

Will Nixon with the Basin Business Advisors Program says they’ve hired a new agricultural specialist who will be able to work more closely with those in the local farming sector.

He says they’ve been offering this service since 2000 but now its enhanced.

Agriculture businesses can receive advice in areas such as production costing, marketing and branding and expansion feasibility.

They’ve hired a new agriculture specialist who has over 15 years experience advising businesses including five in the agriculture sector.

Nixon says this will allow them to work more closely with local producers.

They can offer assistance in a number of areas.

The new specialist looks forward to working in the West Kootenay.
