Group wants prohibition on Z-241 mobile homes lifted in RDCK

The Regional District of Central Kootenay’s Board of Directors heard from a group this week who hopes to see the prohibition on Z-241 manufactured homes lifted.

The RDCK has prohibited them since October 2016 to avoid people living in them all year round, which becomes a safety concern.

Area D Director Aimee Watson says enforcing seasonal use isn’t easy.

The Manufactured Housing Association of BC presented to the board yesterday.

Executive Director Gord Ratcher agrees they’re not intended for use all year round, but feels an education campaign could replace the prohibition.

The RDCK is the only jurisdiction in Canada with this type of policy.
