Council approves re-development of old Sub Pub building

Some residents arn’t happy with a re-development of the old Sub Pub building for student housing at 711 Tenth Street in Nelson.

It currently has two apartments in the basement, but is otherwise vacant.

The City held a public hearing on Monday for a proposal to add three more apartments.

A number of neighbours attended to voice concerns about a history of issues with that property and developments in the area.

Mayor Kozak says some of those complaints will be followed up with.

Garth Giorgetti lives in the neighbourhood and spoke at the public hearing.

He feels the area is already busy enough.

Councillor Bob Adams was the only vote against the re-development because of concerns about parking.

The developer has said six off-street parking stalls will be provided for the tenants.
