The President of Shambhala Music Festival spoke at the Regional District of Centre Kootenay Board of Directors meeting this week. Jimmy Bundschuh says the RDCK is currently looking into a bylaw that would regulate festivals. He wanted to demonstrate the public safety measures they’ve implemented on the festival property.

After the wildfire risk last summer, Bundschuh says the started developing a second way to access the property which includes construction of a new bridge. It will also decrease the time it takes emergency vehicles to arrive by 10 minutes.

Bundschuh feels they already follow many regulations for health and security and hopes a bylaw can be avoided.

He says it’s not the first time the RDCK has looked into creating a bylaw.
