A Nelson politician says unless his fellow Councillors “get off their high horse” regarding the Festival of Lights the volunteer-run project may fizzle out.
Bob Adams – who is one of those volunteers – is baffled Council wants a designer to plan future lighting, see if trees should be lit and review maintenance costs.
He says they want all the tree trunks lit.
Council has been very appreciative of the group’s efforts to date, but Adams hears at least one source has said the lights don’t look good enough.
He says if the volunteers were to walk away the City would be facing hefty costs each year to make the project happen.
