Nelson Community Solar Garden hit by thefts

Six solar panels were stolen from the Nelson Community Solar Garden within the last week.  Carmen Proctor, Energy Retrofit Coordinator, says someone came in over night on three separate occasions, stealing two at a time.  Proctor says she’s not sure why someone would want to steal solar panels.

Proctor is hoping some information may come forward.

She says they will need to replace the panels and that it’s community investors who are are impacted by the theft.

She says there is video surveillance cameras on site which she hopes deters further thefts.

The Nelson Community Solar Garden has been in operation since June 2017.
