Man passes away after assault on Baker Street

A man has passed away after an assault on Baker Street this week. The Nelson Police Department say it happened on Tuesday at 1:00pm on the 600 Block of Baker. A male suspect was arrested a short time after and will be appearing in Provincial court next week.

The identities are not being released but police say both were known to them. Police say they’re confident it was an isolated incident and that there is no increased risk to the public. Police continue to investigate and say they’re treating this as a ‘suspicious death.’ Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Nelson police or Crime Stoppers.
