Burns planned near Kaslo, Silverton

The BC Wildfire Service says smoke may be visible this week from fires they are planning near Kaslo and Silverton.

An 8.5-hectare prescribed burn is planned in the Keen Creek area, about 15 km west of Kaslo, to reduce the risk of wildfire and prepare the area for replanting.

Smoke might be seen from South Fork, Kaslo, and Highway 31A.

They are also planning to burn about 25 piles of wood debris in the Slocan Valley, about three km south of Silverton.

They say it’s meant to reduce accumulations of dead wood and on the landscape.
