Strata approved for Baker Street building

Nelson city council has given its blessing to convert another Baker Street building into strata units.

The owners of 471 Baker Street, which is home to the Potorium and Hall’s Printing, want to build a second storey with two long-term residential units. They would be stratified along with the existing commercial units.

The building dates to 1925, and was originally home to Overwaitea (seen at bottom in a postcard).

It’s the second building on Baker Street to receive approval for strata titling. The other is immediately next door, the former Redfish Grill, which burned in 2010 but is now being redeveloped.
