Nelson Chamber underwhelmed by pedestrian bylaw

A Nelson business leader doesn’t think the city’s new pedestrian by-law goes far enough.

Chamber of Commerce executive director Tom Thomson says the intent is positive but it should be beefed up.

The chamber sent the city a letter outlining some suggestions, but none found their way into the bylaw before it received its first three readings this week.

It’s intended to govern behaviour on the street in place of a panhandling bylaw proposed two years ago.
