RDCK responds to logging near Cottonwood Lake Park

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is looking into options to deal with logging near Cottonwood Lake Park just outside of Nelson. Joe Chirico is the General Manager of Community Services for the RDCK. He says they are in discussions with the private land owner, Nelson Land Holding.

Chiriko says he doesn’t know exactly how much logging will take place, but there are concerns for some areas around the Nelson-Salmo Rail Trail as well.

He says they’ve been hearing from concerned residents.

There is little regulation for land that is privately owned.
