Castlegar working on water meter backlog

The City of Castlegar hopes to have a list of homeowners who refused to be part of their universal water meter program by year’s end.

This as staff work to complete the backlogged installations and continue to gather data from the 2000 plus devices that have been already hooked up to residential properties

Here’s Public Works Director Chris Barlow.

Barlow says a universal rate will be established by next year and those who didn’t get a meter installed will pay a significantly higher flat rate.

Compared to the rest of the province, Castlegar has a very high per capita use of water.
